In the beginning it was all about photocopiers
Capital was founded in 1979 by owner and Managing Director, Tom Flockhart operating from offices in Montrose Terrace, Edinburgh. At that point we supplied analogue photocopiers, electronic typewriters and a range of office equipment products. After an office move in 1981 we finally located to much larger premises in McDonald Road, Edinburgh – where our headquarters remain today.
As we continued to expand, we opened our Glasgow branch in 1992. In 1993 we became a Quality organisation and awarded the Quality Accreditation BS EN ISO 9001:2000.
In 2002, as the Company was moving away from the traditional analogue photocopier era into a more digital and IT solutions based company, Capital Copiers changed to Capital Solutions to more accurately reflect our product offering and service.
With the importance being placed on companies minimising their impact on the environment, in 2005 – Capital was awarded the Environmental Management Accreditation BS EN ISO 14001:2000, which is now maintained across all our branches. In 2006, as the Company continued to expand its business further north, Capital Solutions opened offices at Grampian House in Aberdeen.
In 2009, after a stringent tendering process, Capital became an Approved Supplier on the Scottish Procurement Framework Agreement – one of only 7 suppliers and the only Scottish independent one. Since the commencement of the Framework, we have secured some notable Contracts.
To further expand our product range we added Konica Minolta and HP product ranges to our portfolio in 2009.
We’ve grown substantially over the years and now employ 150+ employees – all dedicated to serving our Scottish clients.
