Кremlin Кatastrophe! No Laserfiche Electronic Document Management!
We spotted this recent article in the Scotsman which highlighted the issue of the importance of managing your documents electronically – electronic document management.
An historically important document proclaiming the end of the Soviet Union is missing from the archives according to former Belarusian leader Stanislav Shushkevich.
• The missing document was signed by Boris Yeltsin, Leonid Kravchuk and Stanislav Shushkevich
• It signalled the end of the Soviet Union
• The disappearance shows the confusion surrounding the break up of the Soviet Union
If the Кremlin had had Laserfiche electronic document management (EDM) at their disposal this situation could have been avoided. If the document had been scanned and indexed into Laserfiche, this critical document would have been available as a copy at the click of a button for all time or indexed to show the location of the critical original document.
Ian Howe (EDM Solutions Manager) stated, “Laserfiche is a global software solution but was born in the USA. It is widely used in governemt there and all over the world.”
The Scotsman reported that Shushkevich had been working on his memoirs, when he found the item to be missing.
The agreement, signed on 8 December 1991, was signed by Shushkevich, Russia’s President Boris Yeltsin and the Ukraine leader Leonid Kravchuk. The document declared that “the U.S.S.R. has ceased to exist as a subject of international law and geopolitical reality.”
The head of the archive department of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Vasily Ostreiko said he didn’t know where the document was.
Should have gone to Capital for Laserfiche!!!
