Capital Document Solutions is sponsoring the performance of Angela Hewitt playing The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 2.
As part of the Edinburgh International Festival, the performance will take place on the 14th August at the Usher Hall.
Angela Hewitt
Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt is famous for her performances of the Bach repertoire. Her fame comes from her ability to deeply tackle his very complex works with excitement and a playful grace.
Hewitt is the key pianist to perform Bach’s repertoire. She has twice recorded Bach’s monumental Well-Tempered Clavier.
The Well-Tempered Clavier Book 2
The Well-Tempered Clavier Book 2 applies the prelude and fugue format which therefore goes through all 24 major as well as minor keys.
In Bach’s period, the clavier was the name for a generalised keyboard instrument so in other words, the harpsichord or clavichord was the typical instrument of the period.
Young, talented musicians could practice playing in all of the possible tonalities by studying the two collections.
