Office equipment specialist Capital Document Solutions has secured equipment and software contracts worth more than £2.5million in the past three months.

The deals will see Capital provide a wide range of hardware, including photocopiers, printers, scanners and print management software, to new and retained clients in the corporate and public sectors.

Additional service provision, including comprehensive national maintenance and training support, is expected to add significantly to the value of these agreements over the next four to five years.

Award-winning Capital has increased turnover from £16.5m for its December 2012 year-end to £21.5m in December 2013 following the acquisition of Inverness-based Highland Office Equipment last February.

The expanded company expects turnover to rise to more than £24m by the end of 2014 which would put it on track to achieve its target of £30m by the end of 2016.

Capital currently employs 200 people at operations in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness and Shetland. It has recruited 22 people in the past six months, including four people in January, and is actively looking to add a further two personnel in this quarter.

Andrew Aikman, sales director at Capital, said: “These latest contract wins put us in a strong position to achieve our long-term objectives; however, we certainly won’t be resting on our laurels and are determined to identify new areas for growth.”

Established in 1979, Capital is Scotland’s largest independent supplier of office equipment and document solutions. It provides photocopiers, printers, scanners and software solutions with comprehensive national maintenance and training support to businesses and organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

It has won contracts with large organisations and businesses ranging from government bodies, local authorities, oil and gas companies, the voluntary sector and a wide spread of universities, colleges and independent schools.

In 2013, Capital was re-appointed as a successful supplier on the Scottish Government’s National Framework Agreement for Office Equipment. The business also recently invested £1m in its national IT infrastructure and enhanced training and workshop facilities at its Edinburgh headquarters.

In October 2012, Capital won the Best Service honour at the Government Opportunities (GO) Awards Scotland for the high level and quality of its services to end users in the Scottish public sector.
