Capital has committed to the Scottish Business Pledge, further demonstrating our dedication to create lasting economic success, and build sustainable growth which in turn achieves fairness, equality, opportunity and also innovation.
The Scottish Business Pledge is a values-led partnership between government and business. It is a shared ambition of boosting productivity, competitiveness, sustainable employment, and workforce engagement as well as development.
To have been awarded the Scottish Business Pledge, we have met, or are committed to, the following:
The national Living Wage
We believe it’s important to be one of over 3,500 UK employers so far who voluntarily opt-in to paying the real Living Wage, and know that fair pay delivers a more committed workforce. Better paid work is the best weapon against poverty, inequality and lack of opportunity.

Zero Hours Contracts
We are proud to have no employees on Zero Hours Contracts. feeling that fairness and mutual confidence should flourish, and strive to create an environment of job security.
Workforce engagement
At Capital, we believe that bringing out the best in our employees adds value to our business. We support workforce engagement through family friendly policies such as flexible working, and invest in youth through modern apprenticeships.
We also support local schools, provide equipment to the education sector, attend educational events, and also create mentoring opportunities.

Investment in youth
Capital has a long-standing commitment to create career opportunities for young people. Our involvement with the Edinburgh Guarantee has seen us recruit apprentices and also trainees.
The apprentices, who were hired through the Edinburgh Guarantee, were given training on a wide range of our workshop services. They are now full time employees, having also completed a three year SVQ Apprenticeship as Office Equipment Engineers.
A balanced workforce
Striving to innovate the way we recruit, we employ and advance all people. We aim to put fairness and equality at the heart of our workforce planning.
Innovation
As Scotland’s largest B2B hardware and software provider, we at Capital are constantly investing in and improving upon our technology and innovation. We strive to improve efficiency in our operations and ensure that we not only meet your needs, but enhance your experience through the introduction of new software technology.
We sell top of the range hardware, many of which are used in-house, such as the Ricoh Pro C7100. This innovation has improved the efficiency and effectiveness of creating and also producing our own professional documentation.
Towards the end of last year we partnered with Canon, backed by committed investment from both parties along with a clear mutual objective to grow our respective business levels.
We continue to demonstrate our commitment to the marketplace and our clients through the very significant investment and upgrade of our buildings and facilities at our headquarters.

Internationalisation
We are keen to explore opportunities to make international connections and access new markets. While we are not currently operating internationally, we are currently in discussions with Business Gateway and Zero Waste Scotland about our equipment refurbishment, and recycling and re-use initiatives, in support of the government’s Circular Economy.
At Capital, we believe there is a strong market for recycled parts. We are currently amassing a huge supply of these items. With the help of Business Gateway and Zero Waste Scotland, will look to identify markets for these items abroad.
