Staff at Capital Document Solutions were treated to a delicious surprise last Friday with a bake sale in aid of Children in Need. The wonderful ladies from accounts have pulled out all the stops and prepared an amazing assortment of sweet delights, including cappuccino cake, cinnamon doughnuts and truffles.
They even dressed up for the occasion and you can see the team in the picture above, each sporting a fab pair of Pudsey Ears.
Susan Hogg, Meter Billing supervisor and baking extraordinaire at Capital Document Solutions said:
“We always try to support all the charity days we can and decided to do a bake sale because it’s a great way to raise funds, it’s cleaner than sitting in a bath of baked beans and everyone gets something out of it!”
The cake sale and ‘dress down day’ raised in total £207 for Children in Need across all of Capital’s branches.
Children in Need Charity
Children in Need is a UK charity that was launched by the BBC in 1927. It has so far raised over £600 million for disabled and disadvantaged children. The first charity appeal took the form of a 5 minute radio broadcast on Christmas day in 1927.
Since then Children in Need has grown dramatically in scale and scope, with a live telethon event taking place every year and many celebrities making an appearance in sketches, musical numbers and crazy stunts.
Terry Wogan has been the cheerful pillar of the charity and presenter of the telethon since 1980. Pudsey Bear, the charity’s mascot was originally designed by Joanna Ball, a BBC graphics designer, who named him after the West Yorkshire town where she was born.
You can find out about the charity and how to donate via the Children in Need website.
