As part of the Laserfiche Document Management team at Capital Document Solutions I was fortunate to attend the Empower 2013 Laserfiche conference in Anaheim, California in early January.
We had just ‘survived’ the usual round of festivities that encompass the Christmas & New Year holiday period, then headed off on the 4th January to a packed itinerary of classrooms, workshops and labs looking at best use and best practices of the Laserfiche solution.
For the second year in a row the conference was held in The Marriott Hotel and Conference Centre in Anaheim, California. With some 1,600 – 1,700 delegates expected this is one of the few venues in Laserfiche’s home area around Long Beach that could facilitate this volume of people in surroundings that allow many functions to happen simultaneously. And similar to 2012 it all went very smoothly, testament to the organisational skills of the Laserfiche Marketing and Events team. We were also able to mix with and talk the solutions through with some users over dinner or a few drinks in the bar and additionally the International VAR team hosts even managed to take us into downtown LA to the Staples Centre to catch a basketball game – excellent!
There were the usual mix of Laserfiche staff, Laserfiche Value Added Resellers (VARs), such as ourselves and a volume of end user clients who were looking to both increase their knowledge of the solution and to present what they had used it for and how they were managing to leverage the maximum from the product and in some cases how they had cleverly integrated it with other Line of Business (LOB) solutions. Those who had the most innovative solutions were acknowledged at the Keynote speech of day 2 of the conference with the “Run Smarter” awards.
The ability to integrate Laserfiche with other LOB’s has accelerated very quickly over the last 2 years and indeed one of the core messages in the Keynote speech by Laserfiche CEO & founder, Nien Ling-Wacker – was that Laserfiche can now be seen across all industries and business types as an “Accelerator” to business processes regardless of the constituent parts. A very interesting and exciting concept indeed.
The mainstay of Empower 2013 was the official launch of Laserfiche V.9. The highlights are:
– Web based Forms designer
– Forms capture and data output
– Business process overview in Workflow
– Introduction of Business Process participants
– Expansion of Web Access/Mobile Apps
– Intuitive Business Process designer
The classes and labs introduced V.9 to us and allowed a good understanding about where the solution will now sit within business. In essence anyone who uses a document either paper or electronic to drive any kind of business process, however small, now needs to consider Laserfiche as the both the “accelerator” for that process AND for their business!
On the back of the conference Capital Document Solutions were one of a select band of VARs who had attained their target (for the 4th year in a row) for 2012 which qualified them for “Winners Circle” and on Thursday 10th January after the conference had ended, we joined that select band at The Huntington Beach Resort for a few days of continued business meetings and classes, but also some personal time to relax and explore the delights of the Huntington Beach area. The few days culminated in a Gala dinner on Friday 11th where the various US and International territory winners were presented with their awards, as always a very enjoyable and uplifting experience.
So Capital Document Solutions now have 4 Winners Circle trophies in a row and the determination within the team to ensure we make it 5, roll on 2013.
