Following on from the success of Capital Baking for Children in 2013 our amazing ladies in admin pulled out all the stops and decided to hold another bake sale to carry out some fundraising for Children in Need 2014 and raise some cash for the charity.
As well as the bake sale staff were allowed to dress down for the day for a donation and there was a chance to win a Pudsey if you could guess his birthday. A member of staff kindly became a hero and took part in a sponsored silence, whilst wearing a prominent local football club top (much to his dislike!). The sponsored silence raised an incredible £482.31, what a Pudsey hero!
Our staff raised £287.54 from contributions to the Bake Sale, Dress Down and Guess Pudsey’s Birthday.
In all that makes a grand total of £769.85.
Fundraising for children with the BBC first started on Christmas Day in 1927 with a five minute radio broadcast. The response was phenomenal and it raised £1,143 18s 3d which was split between 4 prominent children’s charities. The first televised appeal was the Children’s Hour Christmas Appeal in 1955, and the Christmas Day appeals continued on TV and radio up until 1979 with the new telethon format was broadcast in 1980. Pudsey Bear made his debut appearance in 1985 to become the Children in Need mascot
To date Children in Need has raised over £740 million with fundraising events and donations. You can find out about the charity and how to donate via the Children in Need website.
