Capital Document Solutions has appointed three new board members, invested £1m in the business’ IT infrastructure and enhanced training and workshop facilities at our Edinburgh headquarters.

Our award-winning company, which has operations throughout Scotland, expects to record turnover in excess of £21m for its 2013 year-end in December and is targeting turnover of more than £30m by the end of 2016.

In response to the company’s expanding business demands, Area Sales Directors John Campbell and Mark Harvie along with Service Development Director Ronnie Melvin have been promoted to positions on the board. All three have been with Capital for more than 25 years and boast a wealth of experience in the office equipment industry.

Capital has made a substantial investment, worth in the region of £1m, to roll out a new computer system across all its branches. The Microsoft Dynamics AX solution will allow us to run our core business on one centralised and easy to access system as well as enhancing customer service and performance reports.

To keep up with current planned growth, Capital has moved its training and workshop facilities along with its support staff offices into a 3,300 sq ft building, immediately adjoining our McDonald Road headquarters. The newly-refurbished space was previously let to another organisation. It is now being used for the training of our team of trainees and apprentices as well as housing our expanding service work control centre. The total size of the our headquarters is now 35,580 sq ft.

Tom Flockhart, Founder and Managing Director of Capital Document Solutions, said: “These changes demonstrate the progressive nature of our business. We continue to win major contracts in both the public and corporate markets and, as a result of this level of demand for Capital’s products and services, we are actively recruiting new staff and improving facilities at each of our branches across the whole of Scotland.

“I would especially like to congratulate our new board members on their well-deserved appointment. They will continue to play an increasingly important role in the company’s growth and help us achieve our medium and long-term objectives.

“The investment we have made in our training facilities will also ensure that we continue to attract and develop the best young talent.”

Capital has a long-standing commitment to creating lasting career opportunities for young people, including school leavers. It currently employs six trainees and 10 apprentice engineers nationwide. A further three trainees are expected to join the company’s Edinburgh operation and an additional apprentice engineer will be based in Aberdeen.

Earlier this year, Capital acquired Inverness-based Highland Office Equipment and was re-appointed as a successful supplier on the Scottish Government’s National Framework Agreement for Office Equipment.

In October 2012, the business won the Best Service honour at the Government Opportunities (GO) Awards Scotland for the high level and quality of its services to end users in the Scottish public sector.
