The Royal Scottish National Orchestra is one of Europe’s leading symphony orchestras. Formed in 1891 as the Scottish Orchestra, the company became the Scottish National Orchestra in 1950, and was awarded Royal Patronage in 1991.
Speaking of the performance the RSNO said:
‘What can we tell you about Nicola Benedetti – except that when the nation’s favourite violinist teams up with the RSNO, something exciting happens. In a special treat for Scottish fans, Nicola will perform Sibelius’ hugely popular Violin Concerto ahead of her European tour with the RSNO in January. With Shostakovich’s firecracker overture raising the curtain, and a visit to the fantastical world of Modest Mussorgsky, be prepared to enjoy an evening filled with wonderful music.’
