For four consecutive years Capital Document Solutions has been proud to sponsor concerts by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. 2012 is no different. We will be sponsoring three concerts across Scotland beginning with Oundjian Conducts Shostakovich, the season opener on 4 October 2012 at the Aberdeen Music Hall.

“Time to celebrate! Glinka’s Overture to Russlan and Ludmilla has been called a musical firecracker. So what better way to launch Peter Oundjian’s very first concert as RSNO Music Director? That’s just the start of this thrilling all-Russian programme. It sweeps from the heart-melting song of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto – played by the superb Vadim Gluzman – to the revolutionary fervour of Shostakovich’s mighty Eleventh Symphony. Be there, as we raise a glass to a very special night for Scottish music.”

The Usher Hall in Edinburgh will be the venue for Also sprach Zarathustra on 23 November.

“I mean to portray in music the whole story of the human race…” Richard Strauss never did anything by halves. If you’ve heard the sensational opening of Also sprach Zarathustra in 2001: A Space Odyssey, you’ll know to expect something extraordinary. Guest conductor Kazushi Ono has a passion for Strauss. But it’s not all blockbusters tonight. Pianist Saleem Abboud Ashkar brings his special poetry to one of Mozart’s loveliest concertos. Also Prokofiev’s Cinderella gets things off to a fairytale start.”

The final of the three concerts sponsored by Capital Document Solutions will be John Lill Plays Grieg at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on 15 December 2012.

Winter warmers: Tchaikovsky was a nervous soul, and he was modest about his First Symphony. But audiences for over a century have fallen head-over-heels for its wintry sparkle and youthful freshness. The RSNO’s charismatic Assistant Conductor continues his love affair with the music of the north. Keyboard legend John Lill plays Grieg’s hugely popular concerto. And if you enjoy Scandinavian TV drama, you’ll also be charmed by the unmistakably Swedish style of Lars-Erik Larsson’s tuneful homage to Shakespeare.”

Capital believes in the value of the development and culture of Scotland and these parallel with the RSNO’s activities.

In March 2012 Capital Document Solutions also became a lead sponsor of the RSNO’s outreach project “Out and About” in Shetland. The purpose of this venture is to keep music alive throughout Scottish communities.

“The Royal Scottish National Orchestra is one of Europe’s leading symphony orchestras. Formed in 1891, the company became the Scottish National Orchestra in 1950, and was also awarded Royal Patronage in 1991. Throughout its proud history, the Orchestra has played an important part in Scotland’s musical life, including performing at the opening ceremony of the Scottish Parliament building in 2004.” – Royal Scottish National Orchestra biography
