As this was my first time attending Procurex, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Even though I have prior experience of dealing with buyers and suppliers in the public sector it was useful to have my colleagues along to demonstrate their individual expertise as well as Capital’s broader capabilities.
With more than a thousand people attending the event there was the opportunity to enhance existing relationships with Capital Document Solutions’ clients and build new ones.
Procurex is a major event in the field of Scottish public procurement calendar and attracts a large number of suppliers from sectors as diverse as education, IT and utilities – with many of them showcasing innovative products and services.
It was hugely beneficial to meet and interact with key decision-makers in the Scottish public sector. I’m convinced that we will gain significant benefits having exhibited. Not least in terms of demonstrating a wide range of our products and services as well as personally being introduced to so many of our existing and potential customers.
The keynote address was delivered by Scotland’s Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon who discussed the topics of cost, quality and sustainability – all important aspects of Capital’s business model. The company has plans in place to further enhance our service offering to customers in these key areas throughout 2014.
Throughout the day there were several high-profile speakers. Although I wasn’t able to catch them all, I thought that Eddie Regan of BiP Solutions particularly stood out. He talked at length about the forthcoming EU Public Procurement Directive and the challenges this will pose for businesses operating in Scotland.
Procurex is probably the foremost public sector event in the calendar for our business and it is obvious why with so many companies represented. The event was a huge success and we will be exhibiting again next year.
