Capital’s Christmas Charity Round-up 2018
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Welcome to another Christmas charity round-up! We’re taking a look back at our fundraising efforts since we left off in July. So, we’re proud to report that it’s been another successful year for the generous employees of Capital Document Solutions!

Summer giving

17th August: we were proud to sponsor the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at The Usher Hall, as part of the Edinburgh Festival – a beautiful night!

Cellist, Sheku Kanneh-Mason

2nd – 4th August: Highland Office Equipment (HOE) was delighted to support the Belladrum Festival of music and performing arts, and were able to donate a device for use during the festival period.

Save it for a rainy day

1st September: Senior Sales Executive, Neil Hunter took part in the ultimate road trip, the North Coast 500 with Lucerne Scotland to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Scotland. The teams have together raised £7,308.33.

Neil has said of the experience:

“Thought I knew Scotland pretty well after 52 years on planet earth. However, then I did the NC 500 in the sunshine and discovered how awesomely stunning Scotland actually is!”

3rd September: our Executive Assistant, Lynn Harrison, spoke at the Action on Elder Abuse Scotland National Conference at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow. Lynn shared her story and fight for justice. She also provides ongoing support to the Action on Elder Abuse charity.

Lynn has remarked:

“Given my experience with financial abuse against my late elderly aunt and the fight for justice that prevailed, it was a pleasure to speak at AEA’s National Conference in September in support of their campaign for stronger prosecutions for those who commit crimes against vulnerable older people.  I am delighted to see that The Scottish Government is now seriously considering AEA’s proposals and has recently taken the first steps in proposing a new prosecution framework.”

7th September: MD Tom Flockhart bid for and won Bruce the Borders Bear at the Borders Change Foundation auction! Brucie was donated to SiMBA – a Scottish charity that responds to the needs of those affected by the loss of a baby. Also during this evening we donated one of the popular prizes, an Apple iPad. Over £26,500 was raised, with proceeds this year going to Marie Curie and Doddie Weir’s fundraising for Motor Neuron Disease.

Cold comfort

10th October: on World Mental Health Day, HOE asked: what’s good for your mental health? Reaching out and also talking about mental health can be that important first step.

What’s good for your mental health?

16 November: we had another successful Children in Need, spending the day raising money with a dress down day and also a duck race, raiding £175.95 in total!

Christmas charity campaign

14th December: we will be delighted to host a Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Cash For Kids: Mission Christmas. Our Edinburgh and Aberdeen branches are also registered as drop off points. People can drop off gifts for under privileged kids. Swing by now if you want to donate!
